Traditional talk therapies and career coaching can be a useful way to address and work with the challenges and opportunities we may be facing.
There is also a growing body of evidence to suggest that many traditional talk therapies and coaching practices do not evoke the deep transformation that we are looking for. The reason for this is that there is a layer of our experience that is underneath our thought processes which often does not get touched or addressed.
Somatic theory suggests that our nervous system and body sensations is where we need to look to evoke deep transformation. That is what somatic practices is all about.
What does 'Somatic' mean?
Soma is a Greek word which means ' the living body in its wholeness'.
So somatic practices are practices that help us to pay close attention to what is happening in the body.
The better we get at following the 'felt sense' of our experience, the more capacity we will naturally develop to be able to process and let go of stuck patterns of thought and emotion in the body.
Somatic practices are key to working with trauma.
They are equally beneficial for accessing deeper levels of wellbeing and creativity.
Somatics holds that the body is inherently wise and can find its own way back to wholeness if we attend to it in the right way.
Here’s a list of questions and concerns that people come to me with:
Why doesn't therapy seem to work?
How can I stop intrusive thoughts?
How can I resolve my trauma?
How do I find true happiness / peace?
Why do I feel so stuck?
Why can’t I love myself?
How can I access more creative states?
What is Somatic Coaching / Therapy?
Somatic practices help you to access your body's 'inner wisdom'. Somatic coaching and therapy uses the 'felt sense' of your experience to explore a topic or what's happening in the body. This can lead to insights and understanding: a 'felt-shift' in your awareness of perception that brings new energy, freedom and clarity to your situation.
I am a trauma informed coach and can work with those with mild to moderate symptoms of trauma.

The Effects of Somatic Coaching & Therapy
Clients often report feeling significantly changed after just one session of Somatic Coaching / Therapy- as though what had felt stuck or unclear had shifted into a new awareness or understanding.
* I have recently completed a certificate in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy which builds bridges between all the somatic practices.
Cost
My standard rate is £80 per hour session. Concessions may be available dependent on financial circumstance.
We would agree on the number of sessions, based on your need and circumstances.
A Somatic Coach is not a Psychotherapist
I am not a trained psychotherapist. If you are suffering from severe depression, severe anxiety, panic attacks, severe PTSD, it may be best if you found a fully qualified psychotherapist with UKCP registration that specialises in that area.
I am a trauma informed coach with 20 years of mindfulness practice and 15 years of somatic training
My training, experience and skills as a somatic Coach
I am a qualified focusing practitioner with membership to the British Focusing Association (BFA). I have been practicing focusing regularly for the past 15 years.
I am currently completing a certificate in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy with the highly regarded Embody Lab Institute, based in the USA.
I am a qualified coach with Associate Certified Coach (ACC) designation. I am also a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
I have over 20 years of mindfulness and meditation training and have been mentored myself for the last 20 years.
In my previous work as a physiotherapist I worked extensively with trauma patients in a hospital setting, where I regularly applied mindfulness and somatic experiencing principles in my treatment programmes.
What’s Unique about the way I coach?
The qualities I will bring to our coaching sessions will be calm, clarity, safety, and compassion.
I am known for my ability to see into the heart of things, and I care deeply about my clients and will see your uniqueness and your potential. I will hold your experience with kindness and curiosity and will partner with you at a pace that feels right for you.
